ANNOUNCING DOOR SHAKESPEARE 2023 SEASON GENERAL AUDITIONS
Door Shakespeare is seeking Equity and non-Equity actors.
Door Shakespeare is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment for all employees. We strongly encourage actors of all gender identities, ethnicities, races, and ages as well as performers with disabilities to audition for any role.
THE 2023 SEASON
Door Shakespeare runs two shows in alternating repertory. The 2023 season includes William Shakespeare’s As You Like It, and The Old Man and The Old Moon, with book, music, and lyrics by PigPen Theatre Company.
OUTDOOR THEATER
Door Shakespeare performs outdoors on a wooden stage abutting Lake Michigan in Björklunden, Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin. The company is invested in safety and accessibility for all performers, and with that wants everyone to know that work days will involve outdoor rehearsal and performance in fluctuating temperature and weather conditions.
AEA CONTRACTS
Equity actors’ work is governed by the AEA SPT 5+ agreement. We work up to 41 hours a week. Workdays consist of 7 out of 8.5 hours. Please reach out to casting@doorshakespeare.com with any questions.
NON AEA CONTRACTS
Non-Equity actors will be paid $425/week. Equity Membership Candidacy points are available.
HOUSING
Housing is available for all actors.
AUDITIONS
Door Shakespeare attended the Milwaukee Generals on Jan 30, from 10-6.
Door Shakespeare is attending the Milwaukee Diversity Generals on February 20, from 12-7.
Equity Principal Auditions are scheduled for February 22 in the Chicago Equity Office (557 West Randolph St. Chicago, IL 60661) from 9 to 5. Members may access the online EPA sign-up through the member portal. Online sign-up will begin at 12:00 noon on February 15, and end at noon on February 21.

If you cannot attend in person, videos may be submitted by 5 p.m., February 22 via unlisted, (private) video link (YouTube, Vimeo, Dropbox, Google Drive). Please share a one minute Shakespeare monologue, and 16-32 bars of a folk song or musical theatre piece. Actor-musicians who play multiple instruments are also encouraged to submit 16-32 bars played on any instrument on which they are stage proficient. We are particularly interested in seeing you accompany yourself while singing.
For in-person and video auditions, please slate to introduce yourself and your piece(s).
Auditions will be viewed by Producing Artistic Director Amy Ensign, and the season’s directors.
ACCESSIBILITY

CALLBACKS
You will be notified if you are called back, and information will be given at that time. Please be sure to provide correct contact info on your headshot and resume so we can reach you.
REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE
Rehearsals are six days a week, usually during the day. We switch to evening hours for the week prior to opening. Sundays are the company day off.
Performances are Monday through Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
COVID SAFETY
Door Shakespeare is a COVID-19 vaccinated workplace. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, including the most recently available booster is required for employment.
For auditions, actors must keep their masks on in the waiting area and in the audition room when not actively auditioning. Staff and directors attending auditions will be masked.
