Support Door Shakespeare
Door Shakespeare wouldn’t be possible without its loyal and generous community of donors.
Snow will soon cover the stage at Björklunden where just last summer Romeo and Juliet and Emma and Knightley danced and loved but our hearts are warmed by memories of your support as audience members, volunteers, financial contributors, and more. The 2024 season would not have been possible without you, and we are thankful. We hope, as you consider your charitable giving at the end of the year, you’ll remember us again.
This will be Door Shakespeare’s 30th Anniversary season. We have been finding “tongues in trees” and “books in running brooks” for 30 years. Do you remember the first time you walked up the path? Whether you sat on a blanket or chair, faced north or south, on grass or on platforms: sitting under the stars beneath the canopy of the maple tree has become a highlight of so many summers, and we thank you for being there.
In addition to activities being planned to celebrate our 30th milestone, we continue our annual programming: Two plays, one from Shakespeare and another theater classic (or soon to be so); Camp Will, our summer theater training experience for children eight through 17; Will in the Woods, a pre show discussion providing insight to our production process; Shake It Up Saturdays, a family program held before Saturday matinees to introduce audience members to the day’s play; and Shakespeare In the Schools, an introduction to Shakespeare performance for students in Door County schools.
Your donations support productions and programming, the day-to-day operations of Door Shakespeare, and housing for the summer theater company. We have spoken many times about the challenge of finding housing in Door County, and we are actively working on alleviating some of that pressure. In 2024 funds from previous donations were used to remodel the Door Shakespeare administrative building to house three actors in addition to the Door Shakespeare offices. Further plans to help us continue to rely on ourselves more for summer housing are in the works.
If you are able to make a contribution, please know that your gift in any amount will make a difference. With your help, we will continue to bring you and your family the tales that unite our minds and hearts—the best of classical and classically inspired theater. Donor levels are as follows:
The Monarchs: $5,000 and Above
The Nobility: $2,500 to 4,999
The Gentry: $1,000 to 2,499
The Knights: $500-999
The Esquires: $250-499
The Merchants: $100-249
The Masters: $99 and Under
