Position Description
Job Title: Business Manager
Job Summary: The Business Manager assists the Producing Artistic Director in the day-to-day operations by supporting the overall growth and financial health of the organization. The Business Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining an accurate picture of the organization’s financial health. They work with the Producing Artistic Director and Board of Directors to assess the financial position of the organization and to identify factors that may impact it in order to develop sound operating and production budgets.
Job Relationship: Reports to and is Supervised by the Producing Artistic Director
Status: Full Time Seasonal (summer, 4-6 months), Part time (fall-winter, 6-8 months), with potential for growing to a year-round full-time position.
Essential Functions
- Manage accounts receivable and payable, track cash flow reports, make daily bank deposits, reconcile bank accounts
- Manage payroll, including pension, health, and 401k contributions
- Present support material to company accountant for annual 990 and 1952, support yearly financial review, build and send W-2s and 1099s
- Assist with budget development and method of payment system
- Create monthly financial reports, schedule bi-monthly Finance Committee meetings, and present reports for review and approval by the Finance Committee
- Take the lead on facility operations; resolve issues; manage sub-contractors
- Coordinate computer/technical support
- Create contracts for seasonal employees; run background checks; maintain files
- Coordinate housing for company members, create rental contracts and housing agreements
- Provide support for fundraising and social/promotional events
- Provide box office and house management support and assistance during the production season (after hours as needed)
- Attend meetings as assigned
Job Requirements
- Ability to hear, speak and write English with excellent skills in communication and listening
- Ability to work with many types of individuals
- Ability to sit 80% of the time, walk 100 yards (or more) on uneven surfaces, and lift 25 lbs
- Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and transportation.
Education and/or Experience: The successful candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. While a four-year degree is not required, a bachelor’s degree is preferred. 2-3 years of experience with QuickBooks, Microsoft Office (with an emphasis on Excel), Google Docs, and Google Sheets is preferred.
