Door County Reads Festival

Amy Ensign Blog, News

Door Shakespeare joins the Door County Reads Festival to celebrate Andrew J. Graff’s Raft of Stars. The theater company will be reading another story full of heart about a boy growing up: Treasure Island, adapted for the stage by Ken Ludwig.

Treasure Island is a stunning yarn of piracy on the tropical seas. At the center of it all are Jim Hawkins, a 14-year-old boy who longs for adventure, and the infamous Long John Silver, who is a complex study of good and evil, perhaps the most famous hero-villain of all time. (Concord Theatricals)

The cast includes Ginger Auld, Brandon Boganschutz, David Clowers, Michaela Kraft, Mark Moede, Alex Sabin, Logan Thomas, Vance Toivenen, Chris Weidenbacher, Mary White, and John Wilson. Door County student Jackson Toivenen joins the cast (including his grandfather Vance) in Jack’s Door Shakespeare debut as Jim Hawkins. Amy Ensign directs.

They’ll step aboard the Hispaniola on February 13, 7:00 p.m., at the Miller Art Museum.
